CENSUS RECORDS FROM CINCINNATI OHIO

After he emigrated from Wetter near Buer to America, Ernst Nienhueser settled with his family in Cincinnati, Ohio. He changed his name to NIEHAUS.

The cutting above is from the 1880 Census record. It shows Ernst, age 38, his wife Clara, age 35, plus his five children, of whom the last two were born in the USA. Ernst worked in a brick yard.

20 years later: the 1900 Census of Cincinnati (below).
Ernst had died. His son Rudolph became a grocer. The record reveals a great number of details about the young family.
