DUINGDORF: SCHAUF FARM

above: Schauf Farm main building (erected in 1895)
below: Schauf's Kotten adjacent to main building (about the same age)
This group of buildings was formerly Duingdorf No.4 (now Duingdorfer Strasse).
Before 1895 there were equivalent buildings of earlier origin. One of it was the Kotten, where in the 1830's/40's Caspar Henrich Nienhueser and Florentine Marie Braksiek lived (ancestors of US Nienhuser line).

The inscription names the landlord's family: J.H.Schauf (né Hellmann), M.E.Schauf + M.Schauf, L.Schauf (née Riemann). The farm's name was inherited through the generations. The husband J.H.Hellmann obviously changed his name after marrying one of the Schauf daughters.
