WEHRINGDORF : Noelker Farm



The Noelker Farm exists since medieval times. It is still run by the Noelker family today.
The farm building is a typical lower saxon hall-house. Beyond the large portal is the hall (formerly used as treshing floor) flanked on either side by stalls and stables. At the rear end is the living area. The spacious loft was used for storing hay and cereals.
The inscription on the gable timbers bears the name of the farmers, the year (1857) plus the following words:

Das vorrige Haus mein lieber Christ
von alter ganz vergangen ist,
ein neues steht jetzt wieder,
durch Gottes hülf und Menschen Macht
ist dieser Bau schon aufgerichtet,
der höchste sei gepriesen,
laß auch dieß Haus wieß vorrige stehn,
daß es von alter mach vergehen,
dann wollen wir dich preisen
dich ewig Dank erweisen
